MTYAA Pony League baseball in the Lynnwood area just finished the playoffs for the 9-10 year olds and what a weekend. My nephew in on the D-Backs and they lost a week ago and that entered them into the loosers bracket. Saturday morning the D-Backs beat a team they had never lost too all season. That then led them to the Mariners, the team that put them into the loosers bracket last week. They had never beat the Mariners, but pulled off a one run game to keep advancing.
On Sunday they had to play the Cardinals. The Cardinals went undefeated the entire season. The D-backs won the morning game with a decisive victory. But, they had to beat the Cards two games in a row and the afternoon didn’t happen.
The D-backs finished the season and impressive 2nd place and it was a great weekend for baseball in Mountlake Terrace.
How does this relate to Masonry? Well at the game I ran into WB Jim Wold, the currnet Worshipful Master at St. John’s Lodge #9 F&AM. His son plays in the league and it was great talking with him. You never know who you might run into….
MTYAA:
MTYAA Baseball seeks to instill in its participants the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty loyalty, courage, discipline and respect for authority. It is our hope that the youth of the area will grow to be citizens whose adult lives will reflect those values. We seek to reach these objectives by providing the highest quality of supervision and competitive games. The winning of games is secondary to the players’ well-being. MTYAA Baseball coaches teach all players all aspects of the game of baseball. At MTYAA Baseball, EVERY KID COUNTS, regardless of their athletic ability.
I watched National Treasure 2 last night on pay per view. I know I am a little late to the party, but the wife and I don’t go to movies. The last movie we went to (other than out of town on vacation) was Deuce Bigallow 2 back in 1999. We went to the movie because we received free tickets. Not a great movie by the way.
For the cost of a movie you can buy the DVD. Also with two young kids, watching at home on the big screen is more convenient. But, that means we are about six months behind the avid movie goers.
I liked National Treasure (the first one) quite a bit. The story line and action were great and for someone very familiar with Masonry the clues and scripts were fun to follow. But, NT2 was a disappointment. The only real reference to Masonry was Albert Pike and there was really nothing said about him except he was a General. They could have expanded quite a bit on Historical Masonic influence.
I find that many historical shows exclude the Masonic influence. A good example is the show John Adams on HBO. The writers leave out many situations where Masonry has a huge influence. For example, when the leaders of the states go off to a “secret” meeting. Masonic historians really know where they are going, but I guess HBO is still in the “dark”.
The annual meeting for the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Washington is here next week. It runs from June 11 – 14 in Wenatchee Washington. For more info click on the link located to the right.

Words of wisdom from a 5 year old
I am using the undressed network to establish a blog about the Masonic community in North Seattle (actually from Lake Union to Everett). This includes the Nile Shrine Center in Mountlake Terrace, Lodges in Shoreline, Fremont, Greenwood, Edmonds, Bothell, & Everett. There is also the Everett Valley Scottish Rite. For concordant bodies that do not have local websites I linked to the Washington State sites.
The youth groups DeMolay, Jobs Daughters, and Rainbow all have local chapters, bethels, and assemblies, but we reference the state websites.
If you are a member of a concordant body in the area and would like to be represented please let me know. Also, please post you organizations events. This blog will become the place of reference intended to increase awareness and participation.
